"Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth." -Unknown but attributed to Mark Twain, Satchel Paige and others. Welcome to June's "Mysteries of the Mind" monthly newsletter! It has been a wonderful month since we last spoke. I took some time off and with a group of friends, went on an adventure to Disneyland. Talk about singing and dancing like no one is watching! There is so much I learned about customer service, branding and people management from Disney. Every hour was a training session in customer loyalty, satisfaction and fun! I picked up a few books while there-- one on thinking like an imagineer called "The Imagineering Workout" and another on Disney Customer service entitled "Be Our Guest: Perfecting the Art of Customer Service." Both are worth a look. One of the best ways to build heaven on Earth is through our efforts to make the world better for the people in our community. Today I agreed to perform my evening show for weSPARK Cancer Support center in Los Angeles along with several celebrities including: Jason Alexander (Seinfeld's George Costanza), Steve Valentine (Crossing Jordan's Dr. Nigel Townsend) and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother's Barney Stinson). All of the proceeds will be donated to weSPARK and will be used to give cancer patients healthier and happier lives! This is all being arranged for the second year by Burton Sperber who works valiantly with http://www.wespark.org/ . The event is taking place next month and tickets can be obtained for $250. Make time for hobbies and creative endeavors: This month I participated in the 48 hour film fest in Salt Lake City (The home of the Sundance Film Festival). Our tiny 5-person team walked away with the awards for "Best Writing" and "Audience Favorite!" Congratulations to Bronson & Aubrey Anderson, Danny Trippett and Angela Wyman. What a fun experience! In other news, I would love to meet you in person! If you are in Los Angeles this Friday, June 19th at 8:30pm. It would be great to see you and chat after the show at my public performances at "The NoHo London Music Hall". The Mind Show: Carnival of the Mind will play at 10620 Magnolia Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91601 Tickets: $25 at the door Every day is made richer when looking for ways to capture small pleasures and build our own bliss on earth. One of the best ways I achieve this is through helping teach the tools that empower people to become better communicators and more empathetic presenters. Let's chat about how we can bring the Mysteries of the Mind workshop and energizing show to your local corporations and organizations. "As an anthropologist, he has an interest in people and their cultures. As a magician, he uses those interests to create storylines for his tricks. Paul Draper's show is a mixture of lecture and performance, tying magic and mentalism to tales of human experience." --David Goodsell, Magic Magazine, June issue 2009 |
