“Opportunities multiply as they are seized.” -Sun Tzu Welcome to May’s "Mysteries of the Mind" monthly newsletter! “It’s May, It’s May the lusty month of May!” Sings Guinevere in Lerner & Loewe's classic Broadway musical “Camelot”. What a wonderful month. The birds are back, flowers are in bloom and the temperature is nearly perfect. Talking about the Birds and the Bees reminds me of a wonderful science news article recently posted by NPR and The Neurosciences Institute. Scientists used to believe that humans were the only animals that could dance and hold a beat. But, they are now studying the mind of a cute cockatoo named Snowball who loves to rock out to boy bands! Bees dance to communicate, to tell a story. Maybe we all do. The origin of dance may be the story of man’s ability to communicate. Just another step in the right direction to our understanding of body language! As scientists spend more time reading snowballs mind, I think that they are going to find that he is both creative and that the music makes him happy! Watch the video below to learn more about the wonders of the mind! In other news, Last week I performed at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas for ACG (Association for Corporate Growth). These are the people that assist in the buying and selling of multi-million dollar companies. I asked them about the future of the economy, and their resounding response was that the thirst for risk was returning to corporate America. Stocks are going up, companies are throwing bigger parties and the buying and selling machine has started up again. I can feel it in my own business. As you can see from the upcoming events on the right, Mysteries of the Mind has bookings for the next seven months! The future is looking brighter. It is May and excitement is in the air! It would be wonderful to come and present my show for your business, local theater or event. Please keep sending me your updates; I love hearing from you! Two famous parrots and a bevy of YouTube videos have now convinced scientists that people aren't the only ones who can groove to a musical beat.
It’s hard to believe, but this cockatoo is a far better dancer than I am. |

“As an anthropologist, he has an interest in people and their cultures. As a magician, he uses those interests to create storylines for his tricks. Paul Draper’s show is a mixture of lecture and performance, tying magic and mentalism to tales of human experience.” --David Goodsell, Magic Magazine, June issue 2009 |
